JT is about a mile east of where the wabash dumps into the Ohio. Easiest way to get there is hovey ramp and head west then lock through. Or a ramp on the wabash and run south til the river then east. But I don't like the wabash. Wayyyy to many log jams just under the surface. As for which is more safe? Both will kill you just as fast if you're stupid about it. JT is better imo cause it is much narrower than Newburgh. But at the same time has more current. If you do anchor make sure you have a knife ready to cut the line just in case. I trust my motor 150% but I don't shut it off if inside the lock wall. Just a few safety tips. Also there are a ton more Shad around jt. The finger at the end of the lock wall that runs back south holds a ton of Shad which makes getting live bait easier. Also jt is the best area in southern Indiana to see bald eagles imo. I see them every single time I go there. And they have nests all over down there. If you do run the wabash to the Ohio watch out for Asian carp. They are thick down there. And they jump like crazy. Your Indiana license is good til you run past the wabash btw.
