Just wanted to know if anybody has been night fishing at Lake Cumberland and any reports. Thank You
Well I just spent 15 nights on Lake Cumberland. I have been on vacation. The striper fishing has been fantasic. I have been fishing for stripers at night for over 30 years. The first 20 at Smith mountain lake. Started fishing LC after that. Me and my brother boated around 300 on this trip. Only kept 8 the whole trip. When I arrived the water temp. in the mid 50's and when I left 60 to 62. Finding shad on the surface is the key. One night loaded on a bank and the next not there. Early on no shad on banks but caught stripers on slivers and repala. As the water warmed up bomers was the key bait. LG bomer and also jointed. Only had top water bight one night on LG redfin. What a night. We boated 30 to 40 that night. Large shad were up. We spent most of our time on the main lake but did have several nights when we boated 20 in creeks. We are deticated fisherman. Ever night an hour after dark until daylight. Some nights fish were on flats and some nights on walls. We cover a lot of water. This year was one of the best trips erver. Mostly calm nights and allmost no fisherman. Many nights see 1 or 2 boats only. Boy I love striper fishin. I am getting up in years and not sure how much longer I can through large plugs all night. Hope this is helpful.
Went last night, only caught and released 4 stripes, one 31inches, one 34 inches, and two dinks. Fished only a couple of hours after dark, and left because I was quite worried about how I was going to get my boat out of the water. I chose a secluded ramp on Indian creek, because those long steep walks up at holcumbs wear my arthritic knees out.It wasn't worth it!!! I'll pay the 5 bucks at grider, at least its well lit.But the night bite is on,slivers and the old gizz 4 worked for me.
Fished the lower end last night as well. One small keeper on sliver, another on topwater. Really did not hear the fish like I like to hear them. Not as many shad as I wanted working the banks as well. Water temp 62.
What are these silvers ?

i still like the "pictures say it all" way of storytellin....hopefully i will have some pics by midnight tonight! hahaha
for some of us who fish alone, taking a pic means either killing the fish.or trying to get it on your picphone, that cost me a 90 buck motorola two yrs ago.
Fished mid lake Thursday night. Shad activity light. Surface action non-existant. Still managed 3 short stripes, one KY, and 4 18" eyes before getting rained out about 3.
Fished the dam end of the lake Friday night. Like kygun, alewife and striper activity was very light. Probably only heard 2-3 blowups that were not on our lures. Plenty of action though. One thing that we noticed is that you had to have the lure within 1 foot of the bank to get hit. Bucktail, crankbait, surface swimmer, didn't matter. Hit the bank, one to two crank, bam! fish on.

are you guys catching any smallmouth at night?
What will this cold front do to the striper/eye bite? I am planning on a Thurs. night trip and was wondering if they should still be biting.
