night fishing

Fished mid lake Thursday night. Shad activity light. Surface action non-existant. Still managed 3 short stripes, one KY, and 4 18" eyes before getting rained out about 3.

Fished the dam end of the lake Friday night. Like kygun, alewife and striper activity was very light. Probably only heard 2-3 blowups that were not on our lures. Plenty of action though. One thing that we noticed is that you had to have the lure within 1 foot of the bank to get hit. Bucktail, crankbait, surface swimmer, didn't matter. Hit the bank, one to two crank, bam! fish on.

What will this cold front do to the striper/eye bite? I am planning on a Thurs. night trip and was wondering if they should still be biting.

i dont THINK this is enough of a cold front to worry about, watch the barometric pressures though, several unstable days of barometric pressure will either move them or shut them off completely....unfortunately the next several days will be unstable, i think the end of the week is looking better though. but at the end of the day....its still fishing, and is always better than working, good luck. p.s. fishing everynight this week, if it is disastrous i will send you a note.

I'm also gonna try to make it down there Thursday night. Will be my first time night fishing for stripers and third time striper fishing period. I think I have the necessary lures and will get some shiners as well. Hoping to catch my first big striper or walleye.

I agree with Striperneut. It doesn't matter if its high pressure or low pressure with stripers as long as its consistent for a few days, at least on Cumberland anyway. You can still get em, especially this time of the year, but they are usually a little less agressive. You just have to figure they won't be moving fast/far for baits and there will be fewer bites and adjust... The great thing is you can still get into a big fish at any time regardless..

Fished main lake somewhere between Jamestown and the dam and had a great night. Not a lot of size but a LOT of fun. We fished from about 8:00 until 2:00. Had 2 keeper stripers and probably 12-15 short ones. Had four keeper walleye. Stripers were killing a walking plug before dark. After dark, went subsurface until the shad came up and then the redfin was the ticket.

Fished Thur night . 2 Stripers 23" one on a red fin and one on a jerkbait . And my friend caught a nice 25 " Walleye another smaller Walleye and a flathead on crankbait.

fished wednesday night, first my sounder quit at the dock, water was dingy, only got one small striper, but it got cooler than I( anticapated so it was uncomfortable. with this rain I would keep an eye out for floating debris, hit submerged piece of lumber near grider hill dock, only stayed out till 10:30 pm, and left because i wasn't dressed warm enough.

That would be awesome! I'm planning on trying it out Thursday night. Probably launching at Conley, unless the reports tell me to go elsewhere. I really appreciate it!
