Are you just curious or is there something behind the thought? I dont like the idea.. i spend enough to fish already. And it doesnt even sound like real fishing to me. I want unpredictability and i want the chance to make the right decisions based on the conditions i'm faced with.. making conditions suitable for ideal fishing may end up being fun, but rewarding?.. i dont think so
I wouldn't pay a dime. If I can't be out there and face whatever Mother Nature throws at me, then I shouldn't be out there in the first place.
To me, the whole purpose is to be outdoors. There's enough simulated and virtual situations out there already.......
I agree about loving to be outdoors...and am just curious about a thought I wanted some answers on. It wouldnt be simulated fishing just a controlled environment where you wouldnt have to worry when plannng a fishing trip......but again, thanks for the feedback its everyones opinion that makes this forum priceless!
Kinda both....I have always wanted to fish in short sleeves in January or seen the forecast and it ruined a day I had scheduled off of work wanting to go to fish. I have known enough people that just wanted to take their father fishing or kid and due to the conditions have had to post-pone. I appreciate your opinion. Feedback is what I was looking for.Are you just curious or is there something behind the thought? I dont like the idea.. i spend enough to fish already. Not for me. I like fishing in the great outdoors.
Personally, I can't wait for foul weather, I've caught the best and most fish during those time.
Seems like an idea for tourists that don't know any better.

I love the great outdoors. However, I wouldn't mind a wind speed control knob every now and then!
There's just been plenty of days my bald spot have been sunburned or my fingers have been frost biten only to have blanked out.....the whole ride home I WISHED there was somewhere around that I could go catch fish comfortably, whatever your gripe about the conditions. I am needing peace to an idea bouncing around in my head. Same could be said about Golf....and look how much business those indoor golf booths do....think about it.
ha-ha... well said, anybody have an indoor pool not in use.![]()
If you're talking about a heated/cooled room, like the ones they used to have at marina's, where you have trees hanging down under the dock & chairs to sit in, etc .... then you've got my interest ... LOL !! It would be nice to have such a place, especially in the Winter months, & especially for those without a boat (or access to one). I could see driving an hour to an hour & a half ... and dropping $10/adult/day for such an opportunity. I'd also expect to, at least, have live bait available ... & possibly snacks, & food available for purchase ... without extreme gouging on prices !! I'd also expect it to be perfectly fine to bring your own. It would need to have restrooms within a short distance. It would need trash recepticles, inside. And it would need to be big enough to accomodate around a dozen people, without being elbow to elbow ... and a tall enough ceiling, and wide enough floor opening, to allow the use of 6-7ft rods.
You might even want to consider limiting a user to 2-3 poles, &/or a marked off space. Keep the place clean & maintained, baited if necessary, and "rules" posted, and you may have yourself a profitable venture. You might also consider printing flyers, and dropping them off at baitshops.
What lake(s) are you considering ... or have you already chosen one ?? You aren't likely to interest many "Bass" anglers, in such an environment ... so you're more likely to get your customer base from the panfish crowd (Sunfish, Crappie, White Bass/Hybrids, Catfish anglers).
Safety is always a concern ... so, unless you're insured to the hilt, I suggest making it a rule that users MUST have a Coast Guard Approved PFD "on" at all times, while within the confines of said facility. You'd also have to have ladders down the sides, for the exiting of the unfortunate ones that fall in. It might have to be accessable/usable to persons with disabilities, also ... so bare that in mind.
If it's on a dock, or it IS a dock ... having the interior perimeter sealed off, with non-rotting materials, would help maintain the heat/cooling. The dock would be a floating one, so there would need to be something that went from the edge of the floor, down into the water, all the way around the opening ... in order to not have the cold/hot air invade or escape the interior of the structure.
IMHO ... these are the minimum requirements necessary for any such facility. Even so, it may not be of interest, even with higher standards or more amenities, if the price of admission is prohibitively higher.
... pappy
You can have all the climate control you want. I just want the chance to go whenever I want to go any time I want to go.
