Re: What would you pay for climate controlled fishing????

My last dear wife just had such a situation. She would only fish in 72 to 75 drgree weather. The time would vary from 9:15 am to 9:45 am as starting time. She said she could tolerate up to 4 hrs of boring fishing, trolling was boring[washing lures]Accuracy casting was over rated, even when you did land 2 inches from the stump, nothing! What does a spinner bait represent in nature? If yer gonna catch em and release em, why go through all the trouble? My tolerance level was usually lesss than hers. Sure do miss her

Depending on what all it offered, I'd probably pay about $10 to check it out.

You really need to ask this question in December or January. Right now people are getting all the fishing they want. And they know there's a lot of fishing ahead of them. But ask what people would pay when they're sitting at home wishing they were fishing and I'd think you'd get more favorable responses.

Re: What would you pay for climate controlled fishing????

I guess that's part of it. If I opened such a business it would have to support all year round. Pappy, I understand you are envisioning a dock house on an existing lake. I am targeting covering an existing pond that has an existing aquatic ecosystem. The lake has been managed by kfw and stocked years ago then abandoned. I visited yesterday and saw several, several large fish. So the population exists already. I just need to invest in the property and then cover it. I would supply live bait, but be skeptical to let people bring their own in fear of introducing a new species to the lake. It's balanced now from speaking to the owner. I would have access for handicap via deck/pier fishing. The interior would have trees and plants in it and also sky lights for natural lighting. The indoor temps would fluctuate with the season but not to the extremes that the Ohio valley is known for. Being located close to etown, ft Knox, Louisville, and shepardsville I would think there would be a draw for the desire for a days comfortable experience. I thought about managing it like Elerslie in lex. Members only, but I'd be excluding myself from alot of business. However to limit the amount of elbow to elbow fishing I want to set it up like golf with three hour blocks and call ahead tee times. Have blocks of four hour incriments.

I wouldn't be interested in it at all, I like getting up at night. right after a bad thunder storm moves through, and go fishing. but on the other hand, I think if you had a place like that, people would pay to fish it. heck if anyone had a business, tying peoples shoes in the morning. they would be some people pay to have their shoes tied, instead of doing it for them self. their are so many people in this world any more, that won't even try to do anything for them self, that they can pay to have done. and I have a younger brother that way.

Thanks waterdog. I know I love getting out there early while there is still smoke on the water and breathing in that fresh breeze against my face. Guys don't get me wrong. I am not trying to replace that experience. Just fill in the gaps when time or weather won't allow that internal peace.

Based on my login name, I'm definitely the WRONG person to ask this to.

I'd settle for a few less holes in my rain suit, and a new pair of waterproof boots, and declare myself "climate controlled" at that point.

I like it! I love the outdoors as everyone else has said. I wish there was a place like this before my Father passed with his medical problems going to the lake was more pain then pleasure. He could't walk very far due to lung and heart problems, and the heat would drain him. So i say DO IT!! I know there are many people with similar situations that would love to get just one more trip in with DAD.

I can laugh at good humor. Lol....only exception is I have seen 4-5 pound bass swimming around this pond. Don't see that at the trout tank.

hey its still a free country go for it. I dont know if you have ever been to Tunica Ms, but they have some very good looking ponds there. I wrote to the property manager there several yrs ago with an idea of having them stocked with trophy bass, and use that as part of a slot maching jack pot or some other promo. Never heard back from him! guess that would irritate the golfers, who cant have much hang on to golfing in 90+ heat and 80% humidity all summer long.

Re: What would you pay for climate controlled fishing????

Thanks kygorski. I have met with some gentlemen from scores. Senior citizens of retired executives. The have posed some good ideas and starting points. This is one of them. Kinda marketing experience with revenue vs. Interest. I figured who better to bounce the idea off of than my fellow fishermen brothers here at fishin.com. Just curious on cost of running vs. Membership/ admission income. Not sure as to where, price range, to start. Once I get an approximate number of members the waiting list will start. In December, I figure there will be a gaggle of fare weather fisherman to line up for 65 degree fishing in a trophy style private pond.
