Any tips on what you were using and where??? Went two weeks ago and got skunked. All day on the water an 2 rock bass, a small stripe, and a very short kentucky between two guys...We are going back for a day nest week and would like to catch something.

Not lookin for your specific honey holes, but which area of teh lake, what depth that kind of stuff would be nice.

    Hey Rich,
Your reply *****!!! Maybe YOU just got lucky that day. A fellow fisherman on this board ask for a little assistance and you respond like a smartass, that's real nice, you should be proud of yourself!!!

ps I have seen your post on this board begging for assistance, you need to remember that!

Do you have turrets or something? lol. I have no idea what you are talking about........

Chris said, "Is it just me or is Barren Hot this year..." and I responded, "It must be just you......" This signifies that it has not been HOT for me.....do you get it now?

    Deep breath...in then out....

Basically it comes down to fish like you feel comfortable fishing and throw what you have confidence with. I don't see anytime fishing as a waste of time. I am always glad to be there, regardless of whether I catch 'em or not. Sometimes finding what works can be work, but that is when I find it most rewarding. Try not to be the guy that is always chasing a week old report from somebody's babysitter's second cousin that watches your ex-wife's sisters stepchild. Keep you ears and eyes open and fish like you want. Let me tell ya a little story that actually happened to me.

I was gassing up my boat in Somerset when another boat pulls up. We began to chat and this guy was striper fishing like myself. He asked how I where I was fishing and I old him mid-lake mainlake. Nicely he told me I was wasting my time and that they had been really nailing the fish on cranks in the creeks and it would be 3-4 weeks before those made it to the mainlake. I thanked him and pulled away. This was the last day of my vacation. I had spent the previous 4 nights absolutely killing the stripers on topwater and I was the only boat around. Seems everyone else was in the creeks and I had those mainlake fish all to myself. I learned right then and there that there is more than one way to catch fish and that from that time on I was going to fish for MY enjoyment and to learn how I could catch fish, regardless of all those others guys. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but that is how I like to do things.

This is actually the most helpful thing i have ben told in a while. Lately i have been trying learn 10 diferent new techniques, and t isnt nearly as fun as just throwing a spinner or crank bait like i am used to doing... Maybe that is the ticket...

And sometimes whatever you do they still won't bite. I fished the big C Weds night and hit one of my best spots and I worked it hard. A fishing buddy goes last night to the same spot, throwing the same stuff and fills the boat!!! That's fishing.

Probably best not to try to work on so many new methods at one time. If I want to try a new method I'll pick one that will fill a niche and help me to catch fish under conditions where one of my main methods will not produce well.

Interesting thing I heard one of the pros mention on some fishing show. Pretty much said that it did not matter if he or another pro were fishing a piece of structure, each would go with the method (crank, pitching, spinnerbait, etc.) that they were most comfortable with and catch fish. Plenty of ways to catch them, go with what works for you.
