Thanks for the updated info Grumpy. I'm glad he's doing the right thing and making the decision BEFORE they enter, not after. Not only does it save the owner the $25,000 entry fee, but more importantly, he's not denying someone else the opportunity to run.

Devil May Care is not even the best 3 yr old filly in the country much less going to beat the boys on Saturday. Blind Luck is far and above the best 3 yr old Filly in the country and I think Pletcher is ducking her plus since he has not won the Derby is putting any horse with any punching chance into the race. Blind Luck runs a 104 Beyer in her last at Oaklawn Park BREEZING to a victory. Best Devil May Care has run all year was 100 at GP back in March. Tidal Pool has 2 races of 100 Beyer or more this year and could be the second best filly in the country behind Blind Luck. If Devil May Care is morning line 10-1 in the Derby then Blind Luck would have been 6-1 or 8-1 at worst.

The Oaks race is exactly why Devil May Care is in the Derby. Blind Luck proved without a shadow of a doubt that she is the BEST 3 yr old filly in the country, squeezed at the start back to dead last, last with 3/8 of a mile to go, circles the field about 8 wide around the far turn and wins by a nose. Probably 6-10 lengths better than the nose victory and Tidal Pool set all the fractions to finish 3rd. A nice Blind Luck over Tidal Pool over ALL trifecta and Blind Luck over ALL over Tidal Pool would have been a nice play for $28 to get back $145.
