They were not even thinking about RUNNING her in BOTH races. The idea was to ENTER her in the Oaks and the Derby, see what Post Positions she drew and then decide which race to RUN her in and scratch her from the other one. This happens sometimes when connections are not sure which race would be best for a particular horse and they want to check Post Postions, weather, what other horses will run, etc. I have seen horses listed for two races on the same day, or more commonly for two races, like on Saturday and Sunday but they always scratch from one other the other. No trainer or owner would even consider running a horse two days in a row.
