I fished monday night, and got into some walleye. up shallow on a flat with lots of stumps. and had myself a time. well I went back to that spot last night, got their around midnight. no shad doing anything. fished for a couple hours, and caught a smallmouth, on the sliver I was throwing. then I hooked a walleye, it was small so I was just going to hoist it in the boat, but it tore off. another hour of fishing without a bite. then I thought I hung on another stump. and it took off. I new I had a good one, got it up beside the boat, I was fishing by the moon light, had plenty blacklight. just didn't have it on. when I thought she had given up, I looked at it their beside the boat. and it was a dandy. but I thought it looked like a gar. when I stepped down off the deck to get my net. it took off again and tore off. I can't get that out of my head, I have thought about that fish all day. I really don't know if it was a walleye or a gar. it looked like both in the moon light. but I have fished all my life and never have caught a gar on a lure. man it was a hoss and I let it get off.![]()
