Before the monsoon

I walked across the field to the old strip pond today. I started with a little popper. Caught 1 small bass but noticed some big bluegill hitting at it, and even caught 1 on it. Started digging thru my junk and found a beetle spinner, a 1/32 jig head, and a small red tube with a white tall. Tied it on a 6' ul rod and reel with 6lb line. Wasnt sure if anything would hit. 2nd cast caught 1 longer and wider than my hand, fought like a truck. Caught 12 more the same size and 3 bass about 14" long. Saw something swirling and picked the popper back up, saw the bass beside it. I was fishing it reel slow, I noticed that whan I popped it the bass just swam beside it. I popped it reel fast about 3 times and he hit it so hard it came out of the water and he drilled it again. Got him in-about a 2 1/2 pounder-and he had the popper completly in his mouth. It was not the best day ever but it sure was fun. I think if I had a little john boat I could really tear them up. The pond is pretty big and you can only fish in about 3 spots on 2 sides. O well not the best post on here but it was a good day for me.
