Boys I think its safe to say that our FLW tournament on cumberland this weekend will be canceled.
Big South Fork of the Cumberland is 28ft. high snd pushing 40,000cfs we white water kayak it at 1,200 and less. lake Cumberlands going to be rising for quite some time. Thats water coming from Tenn. Did'nt check to see what cCumberland from eastern Ky. is doing.
I cant believe there still fishing on cumberland this weekend, i dont know why they didnt just move it to laurel or just cancel the whole deal.
Demodan, Evidently I misread your post & for that I am sorry. Just the way it sounded to me & I'd say a few others too. I apoligize for coming on so strong at you.
I was going to fish cumberland on my way to Guntersville next week. I think this thread killed that idea.
thanks for the information. We did not get nearly as much rain in Northern Kentucky so other then news pertaining to Nashville I'm not very in touch with all the rain cental kentucky got over the weekend.
fished cumberland today and had a pretty good day= 8 stripers, 3 smallmouth over 20 inches and a really big flathead on a crankbait. you have no choice but to fish hard, cause you sure aint gonna run very far. had to push the logs out of the way just to get back out of some of the coves. idled everywhere we went.....i live less than 5 minutes from the lake and i get to see it everyday and cant remember it ever being this bad in 40 years. the main lake is almost impassable in places where the wind is bunching the debris and logs. good luck and be safe.
Did you fish any around the mouth of Wolfe? Where did you see the mudline and all the logs...everywhere?fished cumberland today and had a pretty good day= 8 stripers, 3 smallmouth over 20 inches and a really big flathead on a crankbait. you have no choice but to fish hard, cause you sure aint gonna run very far. had to push the logs out of the way just to get back out of some of the coves. idled everywhere we went.....i live less than 5 minutes from the lake and i get to see it everyday and cant remember it ever being this bad in 40 years. the main lake is almost impassable in places where the wind is bunching the debris and logs. good luck and be safe.
hey thunderstorm, sorry for the late reply but, i didnt see a mudline, i fished from lowgap towards the mouth of beaver and otter, water was actually pretty clear, temps were 66-68 and yep the logjams were everywhere. hope this helps.
Thanks, you were in plenty of time. We were supposed to take some kids trolling for stripers Sat. Not sure if we will now or not.
Mud hasn't made it down to Jamestown area as of yet but it's coming. East end of lake looks like the Ohio River, clarity the worst it's been in years. Debris fields and mats are the worst than most locals that have lived there all their life have ever seen. Parts of the east end, you LITTERALLY can not see the water AT ALL.
Good luck with your tournament, LOL.
Got an E-mail today from the Tournament Director. It's still on and I'm glad. Them greenheads like to eat when the waters up. Be safe
