Cabela's Guide Wear - but be ready for sticker shock!
Guide wear keeps me dry and comfortable all day even in a driving rain - I have tryed almost everything else except the BPS 100 MPH stuff ... friends tell me it's good too!

Was wanting to get your all's opinion on what type of rain gear is good? I have the FLW suit they use to sell at wal-mart. After fishing in sunday's rain, it doesn't work very well in a down pour. What kind keeps you guy's dry?

I have one of those FLW parkas and it's a rain jacket in looks only! rain goes right through it, I bit the bullet and went with the Guide Wear from Cabela's, parka and bibs $419.00 to my door, over the top I know, I guess I will put them in my will lol, they have a lot of VELCRO and I didn't like it at first but with the zippers and the flaps and then the VELCRO it keeps me very dry JMO

I use Frogg Toggs. When I first get them, I apply a water repelent (similar to what you would spray on a tent) to both the jacket and bib overalls. This seems to keep me high and dry through most rainy situations.
Frog Toggs work fine, and dry out super quick for storage. Light and comfortable, never leak although they will rip easy so be carefull.
cabelas guidewear!
I have bought and used many high end gortex suites for backpacking and snow skiiing over the years. The cabelas guidewwear has a very impressive build. Looks better built to me then BPS 100mph.
THe lighter weight Cabelas looks nice too if you want to wear it mostly during warm weather (+80 degrees)
I have a frogg toggs pro elite suit, it is made from different material than the reg frogg toggs and they have reenforcements on legs, they keep me dry and they only cost around 125 or so, got them at uncle lees in central city, have not seen them anywhere else. They are a good suit.it is bibs and jacket.
I agree with the fellas using FROGG TOGGS... I have been using FROGG TOGGS for over 10 years and have NEVER been wet.. I help my friend, Mike Wilson, at the Indianapolis Boat, Sport and Travel Show. He is a distributor for FROGG TOGGS. Can't begin to estimate how many suits I have sold...
I use the original model with bibs and I also use the "ELITE" series for cooler weather fishing. GREAT product being waterproof, windproog and breathable.... I recommend them to EVERYONE.

Whatever you do, don't pay full price! Shop around online and find a great deal on rain gear. I bought my rain jacket and pants at www.sierratradingpost.com. My jacket is GoLite and my pants are Helly Hansen. Bought both for under $90. My jacket has NEVER let me down in the rain and I've put it to the test more than a few times.
I hear great things about Frogg Toggs as well... Good luck!
I like Frog Toggs as well, but be prepared for them to wear. I say that but I am on my second set in eight years. All of them can puncture or rip, so I'd rather pay less than $400 for them. I like that they are very light weight, store in a small place and dry out very quickly. I am rarely exposed to 100 mph winds so you will want to consider that when deciding. I don't think Frog Toggs would do well with that sort of abuse.
I had a pair of Frog Toggs and just switched to Cabelas Guide Wear. I wish I would have bit the bullet and just went with the Cabelas.
River's West makes the best rain gear on the market PERIOD!. endorsed by the Alaska Crab Fisherman they are absolutly the BEST!
