Fly-In fishing trip to Canada

I have a few friends that are wanting to take a trip to Canada but they are not much on the roughing it idea. I am looking for a decent outfitter and a decent cost. Wanting to fly in to a lake and have a decent place to stay. Not a 5-star hotel they just dont want to sleep in tents. Also would like a chance to catch multi-species of fish. Smallmouth, pike, walley and anything else. If you have any info please let me know. Thanks

Don't do it. It will ruin your fishing around here and you will realize what peace and quiet really is. Talk about R&R- it gets no better.

A friend of mine sent me this link to check out. He went last year with a group of guys and had a blast. He said cabins were great fishing was unbelievable.

www.howeybayresort.com, www.canadianhaven.com Howey Bay Resort is in Red Lake,Ontario,along drive but the Red Lake its self fishes like a flyin.They also have 7 lakes to fly into.I have not been on the flyin lakes but my brother did do a moose hunt out of one and said the cabins were great,and fishing was as fast as you could reel them in.This one is to far north for smallmouth though. Canadian Haven is in Nestor Falls,Ontario.It is owned and run by a couple from Westport Indiana.It is on The Lake of the Woods.Not a flyin but you would catch alot of fish.Lots of smallmouth and the best muskie fishing in the would.You would have a reel shot at a 50" plus fish.

Try the Boundary Waters! I've been to Ontario twice and its great but you can go to Ely,Mn stay in some comfort,knock 5 hours off your trip and still catch some great fish.I'd recommend Rob Nelson with the Ely fishing Guide Service,he's first rate.We went to a portage lake mid-July last year and caught 18-20 inch smallie's by the bucket full.Rob cooks the best shore lunch I've ever had.If you do go stop in at the Ely Steak Company for a great meal.I'm going again this July.Wherever you go good luck and stay safe.

I've done a few different trips.........Fly in Cabin. Fly in Paddle Out, Paddle In, Paddle Out, etc, etc.

For a really GREAT trip that fits your bill, how about a Hybrid Camping Trip. Zups offers a "basecamp" type trip where you're in screen tents on their island, on LLC. They provide small 25hp boats, and access to the Boundary Waters. The Screen tents all have cots, and propane heat, etc, etc. I believe they also have an option with food, but I'm not completely sure. I do have buddies who have done this multiple times.

I did a flyin trip a few years ago, and was stircrazy after the first 2 days. On most flying trips, those lakes get POUNDED. You will catch fish, but nothing near what you will catch in the area outside of flying lakes.

Also, if the flyin lake isn't really, REALLY BIG, you may get "bored".....we did. We were on a 5000 acre lake when we did the flyin trip and after 2 days we had the lake figured out.

If they are good friends, tell em to stay home. How could anyone do that to someone. Imagine how they will feel a couple of years later, when they start remembering those giant pike, small mouths to numerous to count, ending the day with a great meal, cooked by someone who knows how, and a couple cans or bottles of molsons,and needing to do it again the next day.Thank you for the quick service on the boat, worked perfectly.I'd opt for either rainy lake or lake of the woods, the outfitters on those lakes have anything you could possibly wish for, Heck they even have house boats.If that lottery ticket ever comes in for me, I'd go back in a heart beat.
