    shakey head jigs???

I was looking for some tube jigs on the bps site and saw some shaky head jigs. I've heard you guys talk about them and I see that a lot of you love them....but what makes them different? They look like other jigs to me, I'm not a pro so don't hammer me to hard, but do they work and when is a good time to use them? I know some of you get tired of seeing my stupid questions posted but I'm trying to learn as much as I can. Thank in adavance. O you guys fishing the cumberland tourny this weekend BE CAREFUL and good luck.

I know they are just a ball head jig, but I think it's the way they are fished, I have good luck on them by just shaking them, keeping it closed to the bottom, and using small finesse baits, that's the Way I fish them, I always have one tied on a spinning rod JMO

Honestly it's my bait of choice most of the time. I learned to throw it in my swimming pool at home by just bouncing it on the bottom. But I think the key is to shake it without making it come off the bottom then dragging it slowly then shaking it again.

I LOVE them. The first time I caught a bass on one, we threw a few different lures at a bass we could see lurking in the shallows. After a a few casts apiece, I grabbed a rod with a shaky head with a 5-inch purple flake finesse work, let it settle to the bottom, gently shook the rod tip, and bounced it forward about 6 inches shaking the rod tip again. Felt the bass **** it in and I set the hook. I've also found it a go-to lure when you locate bass that turn off for some reason. The key to a shaky head jig is that the eyelet is a little farther from the jig head increasing the motion of the worm when the rod tip is twitched, or so they say. That's also why you use finesse worms instead of regular worms. I just LIKE IT ( and so do the bass).

My favorite way to catch them. Spot Remover makes a great jighead because it stands up. I use megastrike shake2 jighead also. I have better luck on the ones that stand up...combine that with a Netbait finesse worm...Deadly...No giants but have caught good keepers...

I havent fished with a shakey head long but i was told to let it sink to bottom then apply slight tension to it and it makes it stand up. Wait for 5-10 seconds and if not bit start shaking it across the bottom slowly. Works for me !

I use shakey heads from bass team tackle...independent guy and you get your moneys worth, but spot removers are my second choice. I have started to tend away from the worm as much and use a shakey head jig with a tube on it (good for spots or if the bite is really finicky and they are just taking the tail). One con of a shakey head is when bluegills will nip the tail and make you think you got a hit, but you can usually decipher between a bluegill and a bass. Worm wise, I usually use a squirrell tail worm or a zoom finese worm in watermelon candy.

As far as fishing it, I mostly fish it on ledges and drop offs and vary they way I bring it in...the key for me is being able to feel every little bit of the ground you are bumping on. They are good around big rocks, but the jigs increase your chance of getting hung up....good thing they are cheap.

It is my go to bait when the bite is tough. Also about this time of year when the bass are just done spawning it can really load the boat and I'm talking about bigguns. Spot Remover is my choice for jig head and I like a Yamamoto cut tail worm(green pumpkin w/ tail dyed chartruse). You can't fish it wrong as long as you fish it slow and shake it.

I use shakeys quite a bit. IMOP Punisher makes a great 3/16oz shakey. I like the "spring/bait holder" design on their jig. I like to fish a 3.5" watermelon Sweet Beaver. Fished Dale Hollow this past wednesday, Thursday and Friday in 16-20' points. Used nothin but this rig and caught 40-45 smallies in 3 days. a 5-10, 5-8, 5-3, 5-1 and multiple 4's.

Tackle Warehouse also has a great selection of Shakey head jigs with multiple designs. Just a note-----I LOVE TACKLE WAREHOUSE

I like the looks of the legal limit lures shakey heads...that flat side seems like it would be slightly less vertical and therefore a little more lifelike than teh spot remover...
