with the water so high and i dont think it will come back to a reasonabe depth should i cancel
did u happen to hear what won it.
yeah it was 7.5# for boaters side and 10# and change for Non-boaters
which ramps are the best option here? Is it clearer still down by the dam?
we put in at the state ramp and you could only launch one boat at a time, and you had to pretty much back down from the top of the middle parking lot becuase there was no place to turn around unless you drove into the water a little bit to do so...yeah near the dam the water was very clear and up in some of the creeks (cave Spring and panther) it was more stained.
The water was great color..and the fishing was in the good category! My non-boater landed the big bass of the tournament..a 4.44lbs..he lost one much bigger that that; broke his line! I also missed a couple of keepers...very slight bite! We both caught two keepers largemouths each. It seemed that many anglers had 2 or three keepers...The winner had a couple of spots...but had some largemouth also for a 5 fish limit. I was amazed at the water clarity..I wish the water stayed like this all year long...ya ya..only joking.
But with the water up in the trees and bushes...it looked like bass heaven everywhere you looked. And that was just it...the bass were scatered...from my point of view. We were in about 6 feet of water and my non-boater caught the toad out of a small tree..just bearly out of the water; right under the boat! Most of our fish came from 4-6 feet, and off the bank a bit...It was great if you could get to the bank for the most part...but the fish had pulled off the bank some...and hanging real close to the first set of cover; for us. We caught all our fish pitching plastics.
If you put in at the state ramp...it is one at a time...and you got to start backing in way up the road...and you have to be very organized about that. We would pull in to the middle lot just a bit..then back down from there. The next boat would have to back down next...giving some space.
Also the game wardens were there in force, and they were checking everything....and writing tickets big time!!...I had my stuff togeather...but there were some that didn't...like you fire extinguisher...noise maker...checking your live-wells. Oh...I have to sare this. They gave Big Dog some crap for fishing somewhere close to the main state dock; but he was fishing the bank, not the dock area...The signs (if there is one), were 15 feet under water...but they wanted him to be able to read them anyway. They came very close to writing him a ticket. Big Dog did good bitting his lip; becouse he was wanting to tell the game warden where he could stick his ticket pad....they did have serious words. Big Dog got lucky...he told the game warden..that if the area is "off limits"...then putting a sign on the dock...would be the best idea...becouse it's hard to read when it's 15 feet under water....the game warden replied; "Do you want a ticket". All big dog was doing was fishing for that little green fish for crying out loud! It all started when some women told Big Dog not to fish that bank..Big Dog said Im fishing this bank. The last thing the game warden said to Big Dog was..."the next time somebody tells you not to fish an area...you don't fish it!"
You know...it won't be long until us anglers will lose our rights to fish navigable waters for all kinds of reasons....gee wizz. The fishing is doing well on Rough River Lake.
Sounds like teh same attitude Louisville cops have toward legal and constitutionally protected rights to open carry firearms in public.
