    Re: Monroe

I went from 2pm to 7pm this evening. It was cloudy and really windy...the lake is up about two feet....its murky almost everywhere....and they're dropping the bottom out of it....it was tough! I caught two short fish on a lipless CB...and a catfish that went about 6-7lbs on the same bait...man I thought I had a good one! I believe the bass are done spawning and somewhat finicky with all of the conditions and being post-spawn. The topwater action should be picking up soon. Concentrating on lawdowns around rock is a good bet, and windblown points with cranks and jigs. Has anyone been on the slowside??? What does the water look like???

Thanks for the reply... looks like the thunderstorms are right on top of Monroe this morning with more rain. With this weather like it is cold front then high pressure then lots of rain I would say it would be a tough bite. Thanks again Iroberts

I agree....the bite will be tough. I just looked at the radar and the sky over Monroe is RED!!!! If they have to stop pulling water it could help the bite.....the fish might push back up.

I sense a hint of sarcasm there Slimshad Monroe can be good....but its tricky and over-pressured! I have a tourney there tomorrow....so hopefully my practice this week will pay off! Do you fish Monroe very often?

    Re: Monroe

Monroe was tough today....wild weather and rising/falling water levels have the fish messed up! Only one boat in our USA Bassin circuit had a limit....14+ won and 11+ got second. We had two keepers...4+ and almost got a check! Headed to Ky Lake in two weeks...can't wait to go to a lake where 5 bites take an hour...not all day!!!

    Re: Monroe

Sounds exactly like our club tourny. 14lb won, 8, then 7. Like usual I had 6.5 and didn't get any gas money back. I had a Labron game 5 like tourny, I couldn't do anything right. I hooked a 5+ pounder on a spinnerbait, brought her out of the bushes and he came off in the open water. Then she jumped again without the hook in her just to show me how big she was. That wasn't the only one either. Had several fish get off and missed some solid bites. I need to go to a stocked pond and get my mojo back.
