    Re: carolina rig retrieive

I never was a carolina rig guy until I fished it at Ky Lake. Now I've got a lot of confidence fishing the rig. I've heard a lot about different line and leader combos and fish a lot of them experimenting with them but the constant for me is a Charmers Timber Pup.

    Re: carolina rig retrieive

Try in those dog days of summer when the top water bait goes south. I will move it slow enough to feel the bottom with the weight. I like to feel everything, when it sticks i hold it tight without pulling it over the structure. They will pull it off for you and the bite is more noticeable. Some times its like a jig bite, you feel something spongey or like leaves, set the hook!! I have one tied on at ALL times. I have an older All Star Caralina Rig Special rod and it is sweet. Another tip, I never go smaller than a 1/2oz weight. Some guys might, but I never do.
