Fished the tourney yesterday on cumberland lake and at take off was scared to death with all the talk about how bad the waters were. We ran from conley bottom marina to jamestown marina and only saw 3 logs out in the main water. There was trash and wood washed back in creek coves but the main lake waters were just fine. Had to be back at conley bottom at 3:45 and ran full speed from jamestown to conley with no probs. Hope this helps someone out with cabin fever, go fish!!!

yah, back before they started holding the lake, it would go down over the summer, fall, & winter, to 690- 685 sometimes less sometimes more, and then in the spring the lake would come up to 725 or more and get in the trees, had some trash and logs, but we kept a eye out for it, and went fishing, no big deal! thanks for the report JMO

Yes 30 mph winds cleared the debris to the side. Hopfully dropping it real fast will leave most of the big stuff on the banks.
I saw plenty of longs floating, but there was alot on the banks which i was glad. I was really suprised how fast the guys was running down the lake with all the trash on the water.
Wind and several days did alot of good, now with the lake maybe being able to drop some all that junk will find a resting place.
I don't mind the trash, I can put in and idle to some good fishing. what about the water color, how far below conley bottom is the water muddy. is it muddy around harmon, or jamestown. I'm thinking of going tonight, but don't want to make the 2 hour drive if the water is muddy, thanks in advance for any info.![]()
Conley bottom was very very muddy as we ran towards Jamestown Marina you could watch the water change colors while running by the time we got to Jamestown you could see 5 foot down I mean clear waters I actually through a drop shot by some of the under water trees the you could see. Hope this helps.
just came off the water, getting a little color around harmon this morning, didnt stop the fish though we boated 15 stripes (4 keepers), another really big flathead and too many smallmouth to count (we dont keep them but i dont think any were keepers anyway) there is quite a bit of bait in the camp earl wallace area and we just tried to stay around the bait. there are still some small logs and debris on the water but it is not nearly as bad as it was a few days ago. good luck
I was there Sunday (yesterday) and the lake color was the best I have seen it in quite some time. Very little drift with the largest piece I saw about 2' at a half inch thick. Was good to see the lake at that level. makes for very diferent contours. Something kept attacking my shinners and killing it and not taking the bait. Planners would go way under and downrods way down but no teeth marks or scrape marks on shinner when I retrieved. At that level bushes can be a problem if fish runs to bank-first hand knowlege. Saw most fish at about 20-25 feet in in 25 -35 feet of water on main lake near Beaver and in Beaver where otter comes in.
Anybody know what may have been going on with the "bait killer" situation?
Peter, what size/type hook are you using?
