Xbox 360 fan/owner here, so it looks like we sit on the oppisite side of the fence once again but this time it's the console war. Surprise, surprise
The one game I would reccomend you check out if your going to play online is Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. I have it for the Xbox and it's a blast to play. Even if you don't play online it's still a fun game and with your love of guns and blowing things to piecesyou can't go wrong with this game.
Here's a vid that has some gameplay and couple of the guns you can choose from.

I have a 360 too. But I have played both. Personally, I like the 360 better, but for going through the games - they both are about the same - the 360 seems to load a little more quick, but the graphics and speed of gameplay is almost identical. 360 seems to have better online play. However, the blu-ray of the ps3 is a great benefit.
Both of the Call of Duty modern warfare games are about as good as they get. I even like the other call of duty games, but I love WW2 stuff. But i highly recomend the modern warfare games (you could probably get the 1st one pretty cheap now. The gameplay is almost identical in both. The story line in the modern warfare is pretty short, but so cool, I played through them both several times.
Wow the quality of the games has jumped tremendously! That was intense! I'm a WW2 fan as well and any game that can be played with European back ground just adds to the experience.
The blood spatter is so cool. Do you guys play with a surround sound? On a Plasma?
I play on a 57" crt (but it is a good one), I had a killer surround sound set up. It now resides in the attic so that we would have room for 2 of every baby/toddler toy ever made!!! LOL!! The surround sound and video is amazing in these systems. Actually, it is much easier to play with surround sound because you can hear stuff coming from behind you. If you like the WW2 stuff, all of the call of duty's except the two modern warfare are based on different campaigns from ww2 - the most recent "world at war" was among my favorites - but the normandy stuff from COD 2 was great too.
Personally, I like to sit at home and play with my wii.
