Re: Barren
I fished Barren on Saturday and the fishing was decent. I was catching fish on the golf course using black/blue chatterbaits. I also caught fish in the backs of pockets by the dam using topwater. It seemed like quite a few fish were chasing fry. I drove by and saw people fishing the Peninsula parking lot for hybrids. It looked like most of them were catching them on nite crawlers fished on the bottom. Hope this helps.

Re: Barren
Bailey's Point is the only ramp launching boats...don't let this discourage you. Bass fishin is very good.

Re: Barren
Launching isnt what discourages me... having zero parking is what would drive me away. although you chould be able to get in the parking lot with teh water down some right?

Re: Barren
Parking was not a problem at all. There was at least 25-30 spots left open on Saturday.

Re: Barren
I was told today the Corp. is going to limit the number of boats entering Bailey Point because of the mess it produces.

Re: Barren
Sounds like one of two things.
1) So far people are struggling with backing their boats. (Solution = Learn to back your boat)
2) Corps doesn't want to have to deal with it and this seems like a solution.
If I remember Bailey's is a one or with two skilled backers a two lane ramp. I had to launch there twice this past winter when the lake froze over. Duckhunters it seems rarely have their stuff together at the launch and take an inordinate amount of time on the ramp, usually in the center of the ramp.
Get backed down, get the boat off, and get out of the way and parked and the bulk of the problems will be avoided. Be conscience of your fellow boaters and the amount of time you are taking on the ramp and the space you are taking in the lot and it should be pretty smooth.
Good luck to everybody that heads out there. Be careful and be safe.
