I got a last minute invite to fish Barkley on Saturday, had the day free, and decided to go for it. Headed out of Prizer Point and spent most of the day fishing in Jake and Taylor. The water was stained but clearing, dropping quickly, and ranged between 69-71º. My uncle and his pals, celebrating their 35th annual Barkley trip, were fishing for pan fish and seemed to have a tough time at it with the dropping water and the fact that many of their spots where indistinguishable or simply gone due to the flooding. They were getting red ear and an occasional crappie but not in the numbers they were used to. I fished for bass in the flooded brush. Picking apart pretty small sections of an area with a t-rigged lizard in watermelon/red with chart tail was successful and I also got quite a few rolling a spinner bait along the flooded tree line. My biggest, about 3.5lbs, came off a waky-rigged 5 inch green/red flecked Yamamoto. I got one on a gold red eye shad but didn't throw the crankbait too much.
Thanks to Dave for the info.
