I agree with BigPoppy about not launching at the Bacon Creek ramp, if you don't have to. We ran up to there from another ramp.

We were up there fishing numerous years ago and a boat with two guys come by us and went further up. We had seen a beaver earlier that day and heard gun fire around one corner. Never saw the beaver again.....

Nolin and Barren are good flathead lakes. They like woody cover and snags.

Find slack water areas of rivers especially with woody cover. Big suckers, bullheads with spines trimmed, lively bluegills, and skipjacks all make good bait. Carp are fair baits too.

Heavy tackle with big strong hooks and plenty of lead to anchor a big bait.

I you are after a big flathead head farther north on the Ohio. We fish Markland Dam a lot and catch a mix of blues and flats and have caught 50 pounders of both. The farther north you go, the fewer blues and flatheads become more dominant. Markland is very snaggy and thats why they are there.

Lake Wildcat in Walton-Verona Crittenden area. stocks nothing but blues and flatheads. NO CHANNEL CATS... They even rent poles rigged with tackle for $5.00 each. Best bait is live bluegill with 75% of the tail cut off and the dorsal spikes cut off. GOOD LUCK
