Certainly if you feel nore comfortable fishing north ,then go north.
We do have ledges, and a fair amount of them, one large line is at the mouth of the big sandy, just the other side of the 79 bridge.follow the bouy line and toss in towards the main lake, the entire line from the point to the last one at main lake is but humps and ledges.
If you never go south from here your missing out on the best fishing on ky lake, grass, lilly pads, pads have been up over a month now.Grass in the backs of the bays was about 1 ft off the bottom in say 2 ft of water, now topped in the very backs of some bays, again shallow.
Bass bay,new johnsonville area just look in tiny cuts and coves or very shallow bays.
Some fish still shallow lead in lead out banks being of importance, shallow cranks, bandit 200.bushogs green pumpkin with purple or blue an alternate color, jigs with paca craw trailers, spinnerbaits around flooded buckbrush, and floating frogs around topped veggies.
Its all here myself I prefer to toss topwater frogs from april on in stuff like this.
