Of all the nerve.
Mexico's President Claderon addressing Congress on CNN says:
1. He wants to increase employment opportunitites for Mexicans
2. He thinks the US has to reform immigration laws
3. He condemns Arizona's actions to stop and question the nationality of folks they believe have illegally immigrated.
Who does this guy think he is? First, his subtle message is he wants to have employment gains in Mexico, reduce unemployment there, by having his unemployed folks cross the border and take jobs here in America. That sounds like he's glad the unemployed Mexicans are leaving the country, dimminishing his unemployment rate.
Second, who is he to tell us to change immigration laws to make it easier for his folks to "escape" his country. Why doesn't he set up fences and force his people to stay in their "own backyard" until they can immigrate legally. When the neighbors kids sneak into my yard, its my neighbors problem to control his kids.
Third, if he doesn't want his people stopped on the streets of America, then he needs to prevent them from coming here. Since they are not legal citizens, they are NOT protected by our constitutional laws. If a 6 foot 2 inch 300 pound, red haired white guy holds up a convenience store, and runs away, guess what happens to you if your are walking down the street, meet that description, and a cop comes by? You get stopped and questioned, based solely on how you look and where you happend to be.
If Mexicans are coming into Arizona illegally, in violation of US law, and you look like a Mexican, then guess what? Somebody with a badge ought be able to have probable cause based on how you look to ask you to prove you are legal. When I was 20, and hit a bar, somebody asked me for proof of age based on how I looked, too young.
Last quip, federal law prohibits employers from hiring folks without conducting an I-9 process to ensure they are lawful citizens elligible to be employed. So, don't raid the employees, raid a business on a random basis, and force the employer, as directed by law, to show you the records that proves everyone he employees is legal. Those he can't prove are legal, I think give the feds probable cause to question that employee and require prove of citizenship.
What nerve El Mexico Presidente. If you were my neighbor, and said that to me, my answer would be just what I wish this country would tell Mexico:
"Shut up, clean up your own mess, control your people, or we are darn sure going to do it for you on our lawful side of the border. If you don't stop your folks on your side, we consider it to be a sign you are consenting to the behavior, and so we will hold you as a country responsible for the medical bills, crime, damages these folks cause. Just like we would do with a neighbors kids, or their pets".
I still think we ought to landmine the area right inside ourside of the border fence, and let the first couple illegals turn into dust clouds to show the rest of their friends its safer to do it legally. I guess somewould call that prejudicial/discrimination as only the idiots in the minefield would be susceptible to being blown up.
