Dependant upon how many kids you get I might have a place in the Mount Washington area you could use . Let me know If could help. Jarrod

As a kid I was blessed to have a father and grandfather that took me fishing and it helped shape who I am today. I know there are some programs out there, but I have started a program called Fishing for Faith, just for kids who don't have the opportunity to go. Now I am not an extremely religious person but being on the water or in the woods is how I have become closer to God. I want kids who typically don't have that experience to see what I see everytime I go fishing and I hope it will shape who they are or bring them closer to God.
My question is, does anyone have any suggestions for me in making this the best possible expereince? It is starting with my church in Louisville and I hope to grow to other churches/areas over the years. Will stores/companies donate rods and supplies for these types of organizations? I basically will just set up for bluegill and catfish, but have had a hard time finding a good pond/lake in the area to hold the event. If I take the kids I want them to catch fish. If anyone has any guidance I would appreciate it. It is my time to give back for all the great experiences I've had.
Thanks
Brian Gilbert

Fish for bluegill, does not matter the size as long as they are catching something. Really small hooks with wax worms is liking crack on a hook for little bluegills.
You can get used fishing gear at yard sales for cheap if you don't care about a brand name.
Most items I have found do not need maintenance but having someone that can fix some stuff would be required, especially with kids.
Thanks guys. Swift1, I may take you up on that offer. Not sure on how many but would guess 15-25 kids. It would be nice to show these kids a good time.
I second the yard and garage sales on picking up equipment. Kids don't care about how nice the equipment is -- hell, the fish don't either.....![]()
I have a few extra rod&reels you can have. When is the event...If you need help Let me know.

Wow! very short notice but one of the largest kid's fishing events is this weekend here at the Wolf Creek dam Hatchery on L. Cumberland. The catch a Rainbow for kids event. You may get some good advice on how to put on this event.
Also you may want to check with any local Lion's Moose Elk VFW etc. clubs in the area for support.
