Dad, me and Uncle Bud are going fishing Wednesday for bluegill/redear. We're going to the forestry and trying to decide on fishing between Indian and Celina. I'd rather go to Indian but someone said it was fairly muddy and Celina would be better. Where would you all go for bluegills and redears? I know Indian much better but actually wouldn't mind trying Celina.

I was on Indian Sunday and the water is in great shape. It was a little dingy (about 1.5' visibility) on the extreme upper end, but cleared nicely before you got halfway out of the stumps. I was there with a buddy to bass fish so can not give a gill report, but I would not be afraid to go to Indian if that is your preference. Also, water is up a foot or so above normal. Noticed several people catching panfish while beating the banks. Good luck.

Just got back from Indian and we did OK. Ended up with 25-30 eating size fish, mainly redear with a few decent bluegill mixed in. Found them on some nests that were scattered around the lake. It was HOT. There were four or five other boats around the lake too, noone was really tearing them up that we talked to.
Caught a shad under a cork, that's not a good sign...also caught a shad under a cork at Indian last summer too. I didn't think shad would even bite a worm? I've noticed the panfish are getting smaller at Indian, especially since 2007 when I wore out the 10-11 inch crackers.
Hate to hear that. Shad is the last thing we need in there.
I'm not trying to be mean here but why do panfisherman complain about small size of fish or numbers of fish, yet everytime out they keep a mess to eat? Isn't the problem all the panfisherman eating all the big panfish? I dunno why but it bugs the crap out of me when I see them bitching about the size or numbers yet they eat them all!
you mean all those fish dont just come back the next day? lolI'm not trying to be mean here but why do panfisherman complain about small size of fish or numbers of fish, yet everytime out they keep a mess to eat? Panfisherman almost always keep a small mess, as we did yesterday. Keeping 25 eating size fish between three people isn't off the charts by any means. Most biologists will tell you it's a must to have fisherman keep some of the fish they catch. One pair of bluegill can actually produce thousands of offspring, so I wouldn't worry to much about man fishing the lake out.I'm not trying to be mean here but why do panfisherman complain about small size of fish or numbers of fish, yet everytime out they keep a mess to eat? Shad are something to be VERY worried about, lakes around Indiana have been decimated by shad populations. Generations of fisherman have gone to Indian and haven't hurt the population.
I contacted the DNR last year over shad in Indian and they were supposed to do a creel survey on Indian soon.
