    20Lb. BPS EXCEL Line

Once before I tried BPS 20 Excel & it broke & cost me & my partner a tourney win 2 weeks in a row. Fellow fishermen told me I was crazy. Well after several years I tried it again Saturday night & believe it or not I had the same results that I had before. Broke a huge Smallie off. This is the sorriest crapiest line I've ever saw for so many people to brag about how good it is that I personally have saw in my life. I was using a heavy action rod like I normally do. What is the deal with this crap. Does it have no shock resistance or what ??? I'll definitley be going back to Suffix Elite. I've never broken a fish off on it.

I like using Excel for flatting. Sufix Elite for bassing. I've hauled a good number of katfish and once pulled a 150+ lbs trunk from 20 yards to land it on 25 lb test Excel. I was amazed so did my buddy witnessed it. You might have had a bad spool. Sufix Elite is my favorite mono line for black bass.

It's funny how we all have our favorites. I swear by excel and have for many years. I always figured it had alot of stretch compared to other lines.

I have never had a problem with it at all. I did hear that they changed who they get their line from so maybe that is the problem. I have not had to buy any in a while.

Bad batches of line exist like alot of things. People get news cars that arent right and I know someone who got a case of Yoohoo that wasnt right. I would definately get rid of any line off that spool. Good news is there is plenty of line out there.

Is this why my wife found a large spool of Excel in our yard while she was mowing grass?

I've gone ahead and spooled some on one of my baitcasters. I'll let y'all know how it performs.

Great point Ryan I haven't purchased any in awhile either. Man I hope they didn't mess it up. Been using it for over 10 years now.

    I agree it Stinks!
I love the Suffix lines. They are awesome and like you, have never broken a fish off. (I re-tie a lot no matter what line I'm using). Small nick or rough area in the line gets a new knot!!

I prefer Stren mono over BPS - much more reliable and durable. Oddly enough, it's the exact opposite when it comes to Flouro.

Cool Re: 20Lb. BPS EXCEL Line

Have used Excel for years on Downriggers, Planer's and bottom for Stipers
and have had Great Durability from the Excel brand of line.
