Re: why dont they pull barren a green down

i totally understand that barren is for flood control. so i have no complaints about the water level, even though it is irritating for fishing. however, it can be nothing more than lazyness/neglect for the ramps to be in the condition they are in. branches, trees ect. that could be removed within 3-4hr with a woodchipper so people could use more ramps and avoid commotion of just having to use 2-3 open ramps on barren. complaints about this to the governors office would clear this up asap if enough people did it. and they cant say it needs to drop more at some ramps because water is clear beyond water level. the trash is just laying on the blacktop, and guess what, even if they do have to clean the ramp again as the water drops its called getting paid to do your job. maybe i should get some equipment and try to sub contract out, i know i could do a hell of alot better than what is currently being done. "i dont give anyone hell, i told them the truth and they thought it was hell"tr

It is sub-contracted out - and it doesn't look like they care too much either.

The water has to go somewhere! It all ends up in the green river, which is fed from three lakes. You cant drain them all at once, well I guess you could if you dont live downstream who cares right?? As long as your able to fish. Come on guys, lighten up a little. It is a flood control lake, I am just thankfull that it is there. Its close and I am able to fish. Many people hybrid fish there, they get put in there by someone. There are boat ramps there that we are able to use, someone built them. Just remember that they have bosses like we do, and I dont always agree with mine, but I do what they tell me. They are building a very nice facility at the ****. Granted it is still under works, and not black top. But once its done it will be very nice. I bet no one has thought to send them a letter thinking them for that??? Alot of people are quick to point blame about poor ramp conditions after a flood, unusuable ramps, exe.
Personally I am glad the lake is there, even if it is out of its banks. All in all Barren is a great Lake with great facilities. I am thankfull for that.

like i said previously, i totally understand the concept of flood control and i am not upset about the water level. i just dont agree that our tax dollars go to build ramps and maintain them, yet drive around to the closed ramps and see how good of a job is being done. i am glad we have the lake and it is nice, but a corvette is nice also and if i had one and drove it through the mud i would wash it and not say oh well, ill just leave it there and hope the rain washes it off.

Re: why dont they pull barren a green down

How do youthink tis will affect the bass spawn? Seems like pulling it down slow may be good. It gives these bass a chance to go ahead and spawn shallow without worrying about their nests being out of the water before the hatch...
or am i way off base??
