any info on fisherman pulled over barkley dam?

friend at work told me about this. i dont see how this happened and dont understand the exact workings of the dam on this lake, but from what i can tell it was as if the boat was pulled into a vortex and over the dam. anyone live down there or have any info on this?

Actually the individual was fishing below the dam...not above the dam. Gates were open...the gates open from the bottom and this causes a vortex type effect that will drawn you toward the gates if you get too close and roll you under it.

It is my understanding (could be wrong?) that he was as Dave said below the dam and his trolling motor wasn't enough for the vortex current so he went to go to the back of the boat, somehow fell out and was pulled under (life vest and all) Terrible tragedy
