Between Minnesota and Canada, there are two parks..........the BWCAW, and Quetico. The BWCAW on the US side, and Quetico on the Canadian Side.

Both parks make up an area called the Boundary Waters.

Between both parks there are approximately 6 million acres of untouched wilderness. No boats, no planes, no cars, no roads, no logging, etc, etc, etc.

    FISHING is freakish........

I've been going for nearly 15 years............FANTASTIC, simply FANTASTIC place to go if you like smallie fishing. A bonus is the walleye, lakers, northern, perch, largemouth, etc, etc, etc, fishing.

Geo, you missed one species. Dave caught a 3 inch perch and i got it on film.

It was a phenomenal trip. Exhausting in such a good way. Fishing from 6am until 8pm each day and tearing them up. As a first-timer, I had a bit of a learning curve. After all, I had never fished with a tube or caught a smallie at all. It pretty much took 2-3 days to get up to speed. After that, we caught 100 in a day, then could pretty much catch them at will. Unbelievable.

I actually saw two bald eagles mating. This is not a lead-in to a joke. When can I get back?!?!

    Geo-
Emerald is one of my FAVORITES!!! We have caughten some monsters out of that lake. There is a HUGE table rock on Emerald that is submerged about 4-6 foot down, right in the middle of deep water. IT IS KILLER!!!

We have a little hidden gem of a lake that we fish on the way in, and on the way out. We never have seen anyone on it, but we have caughten the most monsters out of it than any other lake! It's called Polaris, and it ports off of Birch. We must have caughten 20+ Smallies over 4lbs there last year! Every fish was NICE!!! Crawdad patterns are killer there. Check it out next time you are up there if you haven't already.

There is nothing better than fresh Walleye and Smallie for dinner for a whole week! Delicious! Plus fresh wild blueberries in your oatmeal for breakfast every morning! Love it!

What time of year do you go.........seems like maybe a little later if the berries are in bloom.

We found some last year the first of August with my daughter. Yea, they are GREAT.

And yea.......I know exactly where you're talking about.......on both lakes. There are also some very MAGICAL spots on Carp..........and if you play your cards right, you can bust some lakers on Carp.

Re: Back from Quetico...........Man, WHAT a trip.

I will be making my first trip to that area in August. We will be north of Quetico in Atikokan. We will be staying at a lodge at one lake but fishing a lot of the lakes in the area. I just received my passport yesterday and I am as giddy as a school girl at the thought of 30+ smallmouth days. My friend that I am going with has made this trip a few times to the same place and its almost hard to believe how many fish they catch. If I didn't know the guy and see the pictures, I might think it was a "fish story".

Re: Back from Quetico...........Man, WHAT a trip.

I want to go when my son gets older. Especially for the adventure. I know some spots in Kentucky that are off the beaten path that are my favorite spots in the summer. I know one streach of river that is full of smallmouth. Me and whoever goes with me always catch between 40-100 smallmouth every day. Its hard to beat June-September.
