I'm thinking some early and late stuff shallow and maybe ledge bite when there pulling current.
I've not done the ledge bite stuff yet, but I'm thinking I'm going to have to try.
I have not been to the ole KY for a long time, so I'm really looking forward to a trip. Any help from my friends here will be greatly appreciated.

I talked to a tournament fisherman at Bass Pro in Clarksville this morning about KY Lake. He claims it's ON FIRE right now. You know how that goes... Should have been here yesterday.
Good luck! I'm sure you'll get some good feedback from this board.
Headed out there myself on the same dates. Any info you get would be helpful to me as well. Never been to Ky Lake. Was hoping to be able to get into some cats and crappie as well. Anybody know if that bite might be any good this weekend?
I fished the tot last week. Winning bag was over 50#'s for the two days. One guy I'm friends with was using jigs in 60 feet of water casting into 30. He put in 46#'s for the two days. Everyone I talked to that ran really far south had mixed results. Blood river get hit really hard. The entire area was loaded with boats. They are schooled up and hitting everything. We caught over 100 fish both days but had a tough time getting keepers. We did catch a lot of smallies using carolina rigs with sweet beavers. I'd stick with only ledges in 20'+. It was one of the better smallie bites I've seen. A lot of 3-4# fish were put on the scales.
We had a tournament there in the end of May and every body had nice bags of fish, not a whole lot of big fish, but everyone I talked to averaged 40-50 fish a day.
Catching keepers was the hard part. The 2 day total was 32lbs. The winners had just shy of 20lbs on day two. The high water was coming down or I think it would of taken 40+ to win. Buzzbaits early and flipping jigs in the buck brush later in the day. The winners had a double limit by 9am and were culling 3-3.5 pounders, They have been fishing at KY lake for 20 years and said it was one of there best trips ever. They fished on Barkley both days. Good Luck!
The ledge bite is by far the best big fish bite going, however when that current generation stops near the end of the month its the grass bite that beats it every time,From july to oct its about the best thing going from paris landing south to duck river.
The lake will probably be pretty crowded this weekend. The Bassmasters will be there. should be alot of people on the lake watching.
Just got back from fishing Tuesday-Saturday. Fish the ledges in 15-30' of water. Lots of small fish and the big ones are coming out in groves you just have to move a lot and hit a bunch of ledges to find the good fish. We had a two day tourn. on Fri and Sat and it took 52# to win.
There is a really fun buzzbait bite going on right now up shallow, you can catch hundreds of fish and some big ones all day long in the stem grass. If your looking for better fish the ledge bite is going pretty good. Look to throw jigs with some blue in them or use a blue trailer, also crank humps in the mouths of bays with a dt16 or dd22 type crankbait. Not as many fish this way but better quality bites.
