How deep of water are you throwing in?
How much is the line on your net? ie how deep you catchin em?
What is diameter of your net?

I've been netting em but not that many alewives at a time. Got some net fulls of threadfin with some alewives mixed in several weeks back.

Any help appreciated.

Had to throw for 30 minutes last Sunday am to get enough.

I'm throwing in 45 ft of water. 8 ft. radius, 3/8 in mesh net. 30 ft of line. The bait is about 15 ft deep. Also getting quite a few 5 in. gizzards. I fortunately haven't been bothered with many threadfins.

Wow. That is a lot different than what I have been doing. It is hard to experiment with different depths and areas with sunrise breathing down your neck.
