I've caught a lot of short fish out of there.
There was an article in the paper last year about a guy that caught a 5lb LM right by the ramp.
There are big bass in Long Run but good luck catching them. They are quite well trained, lol. I did see a woman fishing the dam years ago with a jig and pig and she caught several that day, a few of them had shoulders to. It gets real clear in the summer and the bass are very spooky from years of heavy pressure.
My son has caught 1-2 lber's over the years there, actually mostly on spinners.
i have fished long run for bass, have caught some bass but nothing over 2 lbs. up by the dam the water is around 25-30 ft. deep. i think there are some big bass in there but i have never caught one.
Im not lookin for big bass, just would like to go out without gettin skunked. Is a finesse jig and trailer a good option? Maybe a Senko??? I figure it will be a lot like fishing McNealy...
if you go to long run i would head toward the dam and on the right side of the dam there is a cove or what i would call a cut back. postion boat shallow and cast deep. the bank slopes into deep water and work back up the slope. thats where i have caught bass when i have been there
My son and I fish there a few times a week and we have quite a bit of luck....mostly 1-2lb. We fish mostly with 4" worms (Texas rig style). Last summer we decided to try for some cats and through out a small blue gill and cought a 41/2lb LM on the opposite end of the dam.
