Re: Replacing ALL of my batteries

Carquest Gold Deep Cycle Marine for trolling motor are the best I have ever used. First set lasted over 4 years and they were not 100% dead then but noticed some lost performance so better safe than sorry. Put another identical set in last spring and expect them to last easily to 2013 and then some. I say then some because I learned a lot about maintenance of the batteries over the past few years and if the first set will last 4 years with me not properly keeping them in peak performance then no telling how long the new set will last.

elnutsmalljaws, since it reads "car"quest I hesitate to buy it but if they rename it to "boat"quest then I might reconsider

I use Deka's There was/is a distributor close to Louisville (off Preston) where you can get them cheaper than anywhere else. Don't know if they are still out there or not but the last time I bought from them, they also sold to individuals.

Re: Replacing ALL of my batteries

Just replaced two on my cabin cruiser. I went with 31 series Deka deep cycle. I ran lights, water pump an fridge all night on one battery. Woke up the next morning and it started great on the same battery. About $100 each, but much better than a Walmart or parts store battery. You get what you pay for.

I use the Delco Voyagers. I just swapped mine out last month and the old ones I had for 10 years. I had one for a cranking battery that lasted 11 years.

I just know they are supposed to be Deka's top of the line, but haven't talked to anyone that has used them. Just wondering if they are worth $200 a pop.

I have used a lot of different brands over the years and the yellow everstart batteries from wal-mart are hands down the best i have ever seen. They are about a 4-5 year battery depeding on how you maintain them.
