Hi,
I fish out of a canoe from time-to-time --- smaller creeks like Harrod's, Elkhorn, and Floyd's Fork. Aside from the "safety" perspective, am I required to have life vests with me? The canoe is 14.5 feet.
Thanks in advance.
Jeff

301 KAR 6:020 has a canoe and kayak exception and states a boat over 16ft. You are only required to have a Type 1,2 or 3 PFD on your canoe and you are not required to have a throwable on board.
cbier you could have beat a ticket if you got one for not having a whistle and a throw rope as that is only required on boats over 16ft as well.
Go to KDFWR and click on the fishing and boating tab. Once there click on boating index and you can look up the laws. I will double check as well
