Pontoon -vs- kayak

I've got a friend that fishes from a pontoon. He fishes elkhorn and other creeks. It's great for small bodies of water but I wouldn't want to have to paddle it 4-5 miles in a lake. From what I've seen the downside of it is that your feet are in the water and installing a fish finder, rod holders, ect can be difficult.

I have a Perception Kingfish kayak, it's 12 feet and holds 350 lbs. My kayak has all the storage space you could want. On a normal trip I take rain gear and extra clothes in a dry bag. A cooler with drinks and food a full tackle bag and 4 rods. I also have a fish finder and 4 rod holders on there. If you are looking for a fishing kayak you want a sit on top. for lazy guys like me... its easier to put a trolling motor on a 'toon...

Get a canoe. It can go anywhere a kayak or pontoon can go, it can hold more gear than either of the two and you can take someone else with you when you want. Heck, with the right design, you can even stand up in one without tipping it.

I've got both. Each has it's own pros and cons depending on the water. Whitewater I love the Toons.....Slow water the Yak....
