    Pillheads

I took the kids to the store to get some chicken for dinner. We were minding our own business and some woman started talking to my 3yr old. Normally this is fine, but this lady was staggering around, and slurring her words. Im not a doctor nor have I ever self medicated, but this woman was blown away. I moved Isabelle along and tried to get away, this idiot followed us, she kept talking, and had the nerve to try to reach out and rub Belle's head. Now im not the baddest guy around by anymeans, but I am 6'3 and about 300lbs, and nothing in this world will get me mad and someone hurt faster than trying to put your hands on my kids. I grabbed Belle and pushed the womans hand away. She yelled what are you doing, and her scuzzy boyfriend came over and ask what the problem was. I said the problem is your woman tried to put her hands on my kid. I think he saw I was a little upset so he said sorry and rushed her away. Me and the girls finished our shopping and went to the car, I noticed that the pillhead woman was in her truck passed out against the window. I dont understand why people do drugs. But if they must do them, why dont they stay home. Sorry for the rant but I feel better now....Thanks guys

Not condoning what the lady did and don't have a problem with anything that you did but will say the following: As for someone that never understood why people do drugs before 4 years ago, I have learned that there are 2 different types of people that do use drugs. There are those that do them for recreation purposes, by that I mean they do them for the high only without any medical conditions, and those of us that have been prescribed them over and over for medical conditions. I am one of the latter that has been thru the Loritab, then the Darvocet, then the Percocet, and now Dilaudid. The body will adjust and get used to certain drugs or certain doses of drugs and then the doctors will prescribe additional more potent medicine be it pain meds, antibiotics, anethsia or other drugs. The 4 pain meds that I listed are pretty much in order of strength from smallest to biggest that I have been prescribed. Dilaudid is one that is RARELY prescribed by doctors and is around 13 times more potent than Percocet. I was prescribed 4mg doses of Dilaudid every 3-4 hours when even a normal dose of this is 1mg every 6 hours. Currently I have had so much anesthesia in the past that they have to give me as much Versaid, Fentenal and Phenogryn (sp) for my 2 hour weekly Endoscopy's as they give someone for an 8 hour surgery and even then I am half in and out of this procedure. Twice the Anesthesiologist has given me the maximum legal dose they can push for these Endoscopy's and my surgeon has had to push more to put me out for the procedure. The body will adapt to drugs and one will take more and more, either as recreation to get the same high, or need more and more to get the same results such as in the hospital like me. I have not had any pain meds in over 5 weeks for only the 6th time of that length in 4 years, 22 surgeries and over 400 days in the hospital will get you to that point. Pain meds are mind altering and mood altering as much as they are Pain meds. As a college educated former Plant Manager that considers myself a pretty smart guy, I am the first to admit that I had 2 seperate incidents that I abused my Pain medicine - NOT BY CHOICE, but as a way that I was hurting in my stomach and pretty much wanted to feel normal without pain. I knew then that I did not like that and sought professional help. People do drugs for different reasons and I fully understand how and why people do them, not saying I condone it, but do understand how and why they do them. Again, I don't know what the lady was taking but just to offer a little insight to your question of Why people do drugs? Just like Drinking, Eating, Gambling and other stuff it all can become addicting slowly but surely without you even knowing about it and it takes a lot of internal fortitude to admit that you have a problem, get help for that problem and then fight every day to make sure you do the best you can ONE DAY AT A TIME. Hope this helps.

I meant the people that self medicate, without any imput from a doctor. To me there is a difference if you take medication prescribed by a doctor, and I could be wrong but im about 99% sure this woman was not under a doctors care.

My uncle was hooked on pain pills back in the mid 80's. He hurt his back and the pills were prescribed for him. The difference is when he and his family noticed he had a problem, he got help and now he wont take anything for pain beside asprin or ibuprofen. Sorry if I offended you in any way, I will try to be clearer in my future posts.

You did not offend me in any way and I did not want to post my post in a response to that. I was just trying to help answer your question as to why people do drugs? No offense taken at all on this end. Your uncle is a strong man because pain pills that the doctors prescribe are very addicting, especially when you get into the Narcotic side of them like Dilaudid. I have done a lot of research on this the past month and found out if you try and stop taking Narcotic pain meds after being on them for so long, the body will actually manifest pain to a level greater than you had initially to get you to take more pain meds. It is a WICKED cycle that takes a couple of weeks to break of pushing thru the pain, the vomiting, diarrhea, the bad thoughts, shivers and shake basically detoxing off the drugs to get this out of your system. The body has been exposed to this Narcotic that it thinks it needs it to live. Very difficult to go thru and I have had to go thru it 4 different times in the past couple of years in between surgeries when I actually got enough time to heal from one sugery and did not need another. Tough to detox off the meds and if it is not done correctly can throw your body into shock and it has been known to cause heart attacks on people as well for the body is wanting the drugs so bad it will manifest other stuff.
