I would say the ledge fishing is really starting to turn on about now. But the best advice I can give you if you have never been on Klake is be careful that lake can turn ugly quickly this time of year. And pay attention to the channel markers. Best of luck

    Re: Kentucky Lake Info (Help)

read Dave Fishing Report on Kentucky and Barkley that is posted every week and use it as your guide.

This time of year, I will fish topwaters (sammy 100), buzzbaits and Lipless crankbaits around points & flats where bass are busting shad first thing of the morning; like I mean first dawn for an hour. You will have to use your eyes for this one since you are new to the lake.

At about 8am, I will start to fish humps and ledges with Carolina rigs primarily. You can try deep diving cranks and jigs but I think this are tough for a new fisherman. Dave will note what color and types plastics to put on the C-Rig. You need a good map to find areas of interest. Look for areas where creek channels intersect the main river. Look to see if any shallow water or a hump exits very near the area. A Hump is basically any place where fish might push baitfish up on a shallow or shallower area and attack.

KYL is a very big body of water, has dangerous spots and can start to whitecap if the wind starts up. If you happen to be in a small boat or are a novice boater as well, you will need to be very very careful. I would recommend trailoring the boat to bay's and areas you want to fish vs. driving a small boat long distance. This saves gas and gives you a quick way out if bad weather comes up.
