Jefferson County Public Schools has a marine mechanics magnet program. This Saturday, June 26, at 9am eastern time zone, they will be auctioning off a bunch of the stuff from the program including a new-looking Mercury 150 Optimax. Also, they have in-board engines, many lower units, five or six old 50hp engines and various boat parts. I think they have a few beat up looking boat bodies as well, but I didn't see them.
The students usually work on the boats and motors. Sometimes they end up in really good shape, sometimes not. Word I hear through the JCPS grapevine is that the 150 seems to be in good shape. Obviously, everything's sold "as is". Kentucky school districts are required by law to sell everything at public auction and the prices can be awfully good sometimes. If you're interested, the auction will be at 358 Farmington, Louisville. It's off Crittenden between I-65 & the Watterson, turn next to the Country Inn & Suites.
