Hybrid...The hybrid bite has slowed down. Early morning and late evening would be your best bet. I've heard of two ways that work for everyone but me...one is a popper with a 12" leader on with a white fly or mariobu tied on the back. Throw it thru the jump when they come up and walk it back to you. Topwater spook white and walk the dog will work too. The other way is to use minnows and tight line them...they say that's been working out great.
Bass...I caught a 19" last thursday on a Senko hooked waky style. 4 ft. deep in stained water. Rootbeer smk. Only fished one cove for bass and I'm sure I could have come up with more if I took the time to fish them.
just an fyi there is a big tournament going out saturday night out of Chimney Rock about 100 boats or more. Starts at 7 I think.
Is the ramp down next to the dam still accessable?
I was out Monday evening/night and caught a few up in the river around Bryant's. There were 3-4 full size trees in the lakeafter the 34 bridge going north but other than that the debris wasn't too bad. Water temps were in the low 80's and some good looking green color to the water.
Is it the Backwaters Tournament going out of Chimney Rock Saturday night?
yes 7 pm to 3 am registration starts at 4 pm. $100 entry, 5,000 worth of give aways, from rods and reels to 1000 yard spools of line to everything in between.
