Sounds like it is going very well!!! I look forward to speaking with you Tuesday before we leave for our trip to El Salto. Have fun!
Day 2 is in the books. Numbers were good today but size was down a bit for El Salto. My dad and I caught about 25 this morning. I had a 5.8 on Pop R and a 7 on a Money Minnow. I fished solo after lunch and caught 45. I had several 2 to 4 pounds, a couple of 5s and one 6. The crankbait bite was crazy! My guide pulled up on one spot and I caught 20 in about 30 minutes throwing a big Fat Free Shad in citrus color. Every person down here, if they are cranking, is throwing the citrus FF Shad.
Let me give you an idea how much these bass like citrus FF Shad... My dad's wife wasn't catching much this morning so her guide had her trolling this crakbait. She caught a 10.8. It was the only double digit caught from Angler's Inn today. Lots of #s but not a whole lot of size.
Tomorrow is my last day. My goal is to catch one more over 10. I'll report back...
For the record, the 60 minute message involved very little conversation. And my appointment was with a chica, Mark.

LittleKY, I hope you get this before you leave for Mazatlan tomorrow...
Throw black buzzbaits, Pop Rs, Sammys and Money Minnows in the AM. Poppers and Sammys in white work well. 5" Money Minnows in shad colors rigged with a 6/0 weighted hook. The 1/4 oz. 6/0 Owner Beast hook worked really well for me.
Black blue tail 10" Power Worms, 8" watermelon red Zoom lizards with 1/4 and 3/8 oz slip sinkers are the deal in the afternoon. Also, if you don't have any, do your best to take Reaction Innovation Skinny Dippers in shad colors and black blue. Rig them with a 1/4 oz slip sinker and fish them in the trees like you would a worm or lizard. Also, don't go down there without a few 3/4 oz Fat Free Shads in Citrus colors or shad colors. The guides love the Citrus! 2 ten pounders were caught on this bait while I was there... I never got on a spinnerbait bite but some guys really whacked em on spinnerbait (mostly white). Take several spinnerbaits. The fish at El Salto will literally destroy them to the point that they can't be fished with.
Make sure you take chatruce Dip-It for the lizards and Skinny Dippers.
Have fun, work hard and catch a 10+!
Good luck!
Scott

Wow, what a trip!!! The pics and reports from the other days we fished are coming.
June 17 was really special for you guys! The owner of Anglers Inn, Billy Chapman, was telling me about days like this when I was donw there.
We were all having trouble catching good numbers of big fish. When I talked with Billy about this he said something like this... "El Salto is always a great place to fish but some days will blow your mind. You'll go out one day and not catch anything over 7. The very next day you'll go out and catch 3 or 4 over 10 pounds. You never know when you'll have the fishing day of your life!"
Steve, I hope you and Troy realize how exceptional that day was for you guys. Just AWESOME!!!

Waterdog, I never go to El Salto without my camera. Considering it's catch and release, that would be silly. So here are a few pics from my past trips to Mexico. Not sure why some look blurry???

Thanks for sharing your results!
Man you all sure make it hard for a man to keep his mind on work!
I have got to make a plan for a trip south of the border. . .
