You guy's are killin me...LOL Mark H. saw them shooting a segment down there last year I believe on hybrids in our neck of the woods. He talked to Tim F. for a little while and I believe brought up that idea....I think fishin.com would have alot to offer to KY afield with all the knowledge on this board. I'am alittle camera shy but would love to meet him. Chuck

    Re: ky afield

I personally have always enjoyed the show and i feel fortunate to have such a program that touches on topics that are interesting to me and close to home. I do agree that sometime content could be better but i believe they do the best with what they have to work with for sure and i am sure it will evolve into better production as the more funding becomes availabe. I think we all may be a little discouraged when we change the channel from a major networks outdoor program that is broadcast in high definition to watch the ky afield show, but like i said things will get better with time and funding. I really believe that we as a group here on fishin.com should come up with some funraising ideas and events so that we can try to make a little bit of a difference here in kentucky regarding things we care about i.e. " the kentucky afield show". If anyone has any ideas lets think about what we can do to make a difference.

P.s. I would love to have a question and answer section here on the site that would be monitored by someone with the state that could offer us information, regarding laws, or whatever it may be that we need. With the amount of people and input we have on here i believe it could only be a benefit for everyone involed to better our states fishing and wildlife resources.

Tim is a good guy and a inspiration to many that have lost limbs or bodily functions. He is genuinely nice and comes off very sincere. Chuck would be way better looking on Television then Doug, Oh Lord the horror.

    JK Douglas, lol.

Do the show around October and make it a Halloween segment. Everyone can wear a mask!
I think someone should wear an Obama mask and the other a **** Cheney mask after the fishing segment go hunting...
    I'm just saying....

Best way to get it done is contact the man himself...Tim Farmer.....tell him what you have in mind in detail..See what happens...

It is personally one of mine & Austin's favorite outdoor shows. I know I am from Southern Indiana, but I feel like the whole show is taped in my back yard. I like it because alot of the places he fishes, I do to. Not all, but alot. I do have to agree on the flint lock gun building, not my thing really. The only problem I have with the show is that I have sent in numerous pictures of Austin with large smallies & his first deer, etc.. & they have never aired them. That irks me a little, but I do realize that they probably get countless number of pictures that they have to go through.

    Just my 2 cents..

You have to keep in mind the intended purpose of the show. Its not to show you how the latest yumdinger lure from Ketchaman lure company is going to bring you big fish, fame, and fortune if only you had it in all 23 colors and 4 flavors. Its to get people interested in the outdoors. To watch some of the fishing shows on TV, you'd think you need a $50,000 boat, $10,000 worth of gear, and 6 months of vacation each year and will be able to catch a 10 lb'er on every cast. I think Ky Afield does a good job showing you that with just a can of worms and a cane pole, you can go out and have a good time with your family at a local pond. And if more people did that and left their Wii's and TV's, and computers at home, wouldn't we all be better off in several ways?

Amen to that Creeker. This is like one of the longest running outdoor shows in the nation. It highlights things that I feel like I can go do nearby if I want to without spending a fortune. It tries to capture what Kentucky outdoors is all about. It's simple and to the point. I find it hard to believe that anyone can criticize the show at all. There's bigger problems out there.

I wasn't criticizing the show, I have watched ky afield for years. before tim started hosting the show. and the guy before tim, was Dave Shuffett. and both dave and tim do a great job. I said most of the fishing shows tim does are weak, and in my opinion they are. I like seeing all sizes of fish caught. not little pan fish all the time. I thought doing a show with two every day down to earth guys from ky. that know how to catch giant blue catfish. would be something that ky afield viewers would really enjoy. and if it should happen, do the whole 30 minute show on the one subject, catching giant blue cats. I don't think you could drag a 80 lb. blue over the side of the boat, in the 5 minutes. thats the time slot that the fishing segments gets on ky afield. not meaning to put the show down in any way, just a thought that would improve it. if I'm not fishing, I watch it every weekend.
