I gotta ask. I've heard a bunch from older folks about eating turtle but I've never done it. How do you cook them? Fried? Soup? Let me guess--they taste like chicken. I'll need to look up how to clean them and maybe I'l try it one day.

Hit a few ponds last night for bass and cats. Tried a new pond with a buddy who has access to alot of horse farms past Frymans on 460 and caught a couple bass. Headed to the honey hole farm for cats and caught six around three pounds. Highlight of the night is the snapper I have in the garage in a keg bucket that is as big as my dipnet. Gonna be some good eatin later this week!!! Been years since I have had turtle!! I was jumpin up and down like a little kid when I brought it up the bank by the tail excited!!

hey man, I have ate turtle all my life, and it is good. here is how I do it. catch you a turtle, cut it's head off. wash it off with the garden hose, lay the turtle on it's back. it's stomach has a hard shell that looks like a cross. cut the cross out, and you can get to the meat. cut all the pieces of meat out, of the skin. like the legs and neck and so on. clean the gel like stuff off the pieces of meat. then cut the meat up in bite size pieces. now get some cooking oil hot, mix two eggs and a cup of milk, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper. mix together in a bowl. now drop the pieces of turtle in the bowl of mixture. in a plate pour some instant potato flakes. take the pieces of turtle out of the bowl of mixture, one piece at a time. while it is covered with the egg mixture, roll it in the potato flakes. then drop all the pieces in the hot oil, and wait for the pieces of turtle to float, and turn golden brown. now take it out of the oil and lay on platter. now it's ready to eat, and it's very good. hope you enjoy.![]()
