I didn't see the President's whole speech last night, but saw part of it later. After 60+ days he revealed no plan for cleaning up the gulf, just more rhetoric. No specific plan to help the devastated economy and lost jobs for the people and businesses that ring the gulf, just more rhetoric.

Seemed to me he is using the gulf catastrophe as justification for a full court press on his cap and tax bill. My guess is they're going to try and to ram it through like they did the health care bill. If they succeed, get ready for some serious energy cost increases and yet more power for the federal government. This administration is never going to be satisfied until the U.S. is a bankrupt social democracy like any given country in Europe.

Maybe somebody interpreted it different than me. Maybe I'm just being petty and looking for reasons to attack Mr. Obama. Maybe his supporters can set me straight.

He is and will use this as a tool. He and his band of worshippers, Reid, Pelosi, you know the Motley Crue are frothing at the mouth over this. It will help them push their agenda through and they will make reference to the disaster for a long long time. This will also aid them in keeping off shore drilling held at bay. We should see serious spikes at the pump from all this.

Obama is all talk and no action. He's in so far over his head it's actually become funny. Like I said in another post, he talks, and talks, and talks some more but solves NOTHING.

Wake up Libs, your guy is a complete and total Flop, and it's only going to get worse. He knows he can't get re-elected so he's going to do as much of his garbage as possible to ruin this country.

Also he CAN'T MAKE BP do anything. They can file bankrupcy and tell him to go fly a kite. He like making threats and acting like a BIG man, he's a JOKE!

I agree Jim. Been saying that for weeks or so before this crisis even blipped on the radar of the potus. They have been planning how to take advantage of this for weeks now.....Rahm Emanual even said to "never let a crisis go to waste".

My understanding was that he took around 1/3 of his time last night to pretty much warn us of what he will try and do on new sources of energy.

I agree we need to get into other energy sources but we have to be practical and thats where I get upset with his view and the view of the radical Libs.

Cap and Trade Bill in it's present form won't go anywhere(IMO). The economy sukks, unemployment sukks, Healthcare reform law sukks, illegal immigration sukks, under-employed people are out there just trying to earn a buck and barely scraping by and he is responsible for the country. The mortgage crisis is still there, tax credits could expire or be reduced on homeowners. I just don't see ( I hope they agree) how an increase in energy will go over in Congress with people scrambling for their jobs there.

The view of gubment has exploded into they are overpaid, crooked, two faced baboons that are out of touch with middle america. This administration has shot themselves in the foot so many times thats it's comical. They are losing congressional seats and my bet is come mid terms they will lose power and all this is their doing. All that in less than two years!

He promised a ton of stuff to the american people and little to nothing has worked to turn the economy around. Unemployment wasn't supposed to go over 8% or was it 9%? No matter it went higher anyway after he said that by spending billions or trillions we would be fine. I just don't agree with the mentality of the left wingers and this spend your way out of debt idea. I say give large tax breaks to the people, not the corporations who mucked it up. We will decide when it's time to spend money...maybe they should remember that.

His spending ideas has the projected deficit at the end of his one and only term at how many trillions? Anyone know? Thought I heard 19?? Is that possible? People are starting to wake up and see that ANY POTUS and his brain trust can spend money and promise the world on a silver platter but not any potus can lead.

Good for BP. I'm glad they stepped up and took responsibility. Let's hope the adminstrator of this account doesn't get stupid with this money. I guess I'm just pessimistic about any gubment agency having access to that much money and being responsible for the decisions of who gets how much.

Don you are 100% right on. I just have a bad feeling that he will get re-elected. I hope not but you know it seems people just do what the media says to do and go vote for who they say. It is sad.

Not to change the topic but did anyone else see the 12 cops in Mexico that got killed? We should let these people in and not worry about it. Now they are here they will get jobs and not deal drugs and kill people. Right! Thank GOD AZ stepped up to the plate.

If this cap and trade is passed, (and they start taxing us on our carbon output from our vehicles and making strict a$$ standards for pollution etc) What is that going to mean for the outboard motor? Will the GREEN NAZI'S try to ban outboard motors on freshwater? What type of device will be used to measure our vehicles output?
I assume it'll be like the meter on a house.


I'm very worried about this issue because I have two old camaros with carburetor ed, built motors, and probably put out 200x more carbon than a new honda does. The motor on my jon boat is old as dirt and smokes a bit more than it should, but runs great.

Does anyone remember the VET? How well did it work out for us. All I can remember is the air getting worse and the guy that owned it bough his second Ferrari. Maybe it is me but there has to be a better way. How about we worry about new vehicles and what not and put the money to developing new energy sources.
