Here is a way to get started. Put a 1/2 oz weight, bead, swivel, 24 in leader, 3/0 hook and a 5 inch lizzard.(green pumpkin) Throw that setup and sweep it slow enough to feel the bottom at all times. This will catch fish, I do it all the time. You can use your 6-6 rod or whatever. After using this setup and getting comfortable, then try the long leaders, big weights, and different rods.
