Man was Barren good to me!!!

My brother and I fished a club tournament on Saturday and it was an incredible day of fishing. Not the biggest bag of fish I have ever caught but definitely the most keepers I have ever caught in one day. We won the tournament with 17.03lbs but we went thru at least six limits of 15 plus inch fish doing so. It was incredible and we did on one point! We caught them on carolina rig, jigs and crankbaits. On the carolina rig we were using a 4 foot leader with zoom ol monster worms. The color was not that important. The crankbait was the main player for bigger fish. My brother was using a bomber bd7 fat free shad in foxy shad and I was using a strike king series 6xd in chartreuse sexy shad. My brother and I caught fish on 11 straight cast using the carolina rig. All those fish being in the 2 1/2 to 3 lb range. The best we can figure we caught around 80 bass. Pretty much all the fish came in the 12 to 15 foot range. The fish were really ganged up and we constantly caught fish from daylight till 4 o'clock. The water temps were in the mid 80's.

I know what you mean man, I was there this weekend also fishing the bfl. I finished second on the co angler side with 17-09 but had two dead fish. The fish were biting really well for me but I caught all mine on a swim bait. The were killing it and I caught a hybrid about 10lbs or so and it **** near ripped the rod out of my hand.

Yes points near the channel. You have to check several points and find the ones with fish on them. If you pull up to a point and dont get a bite within 20 to 30 casts, run to the next one. Look for points that used to have a shallow flat on them. Your navionics chip ought to give you all the info you need to know. I fished areas around the state park. All my areas including my best spot were within an eyeshot of the ramp.

Was kayaking up Peter Creek yesterday. There are fish up in the woods up there too. Water in the woods was considerably cooler that out in the sun. Lots of fry and shad up running around the trees.

Hey if you don't mind what kind of swimbait where you using. We tried a swimbait but couldn't get anything going on it. If you don't want to share I understand.

Thanks for the info. The ones we tried were more silver and black shad oriented colors. We did not get any takers.
