I find it interesting as I never heard of the Jones Act before now. On one hand it does sound odd that Obama wouldnt waive it for the other countries who have offered to help could come and help out. However, I tend to see it that Obama felt the US of A is such a strong rich country and should be able to clean up its own messes. If thats his attitude then I think it is stupid cuz our countries are always coming to the aid of other countries when disasters hit. Why cant the USA accept help for once? Is it Pride standing in its way. Sounds like the Coast Guard initially thought they could handle the spill but it got completely out of hand. I think its time for the US government to swallow its pride and accept help. Just my thoughts on it. I know for myself I would be very angry at my government if we had a big disaster up here and refused help from other countries. Heck we send millions to other countries and should get help in return. Time to get the pens out folks and pressure your government to accept help and get this mess cleaned up pronto.
