    Re: New to the board

Welcome to the board! The only advice I can offer on fishing spots in Lexington is, make friends with someone who works on a horse farm. Some of those farm ponds have some really nice fish in them.

welcome to the board... i'm new here also. there are a fedw places around lexington that i may be able to help you with. if you like pay lakes, parrish lakes is near stamping ground about 8 miles outside of georgetown on glass pike. bills pay lake is closer to lexington its on carrick pike off of russel cave road going north toward cynthiana. jacobson park on richmond road is open from daylight til dark (public access). there are bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish there.
taylorsville lake is about 1:45 minutes to the west. cave run lake is about the same to the east. cedar creek in stanford is a good lake as well bout an hour and a half south west .
tahs all i can think of right now but there are soo many good lakes here to fish its unreal..
    have fun and good luck,
    jimmy

    Re: New to the board

Wow, thanks for the greeting. I had no idea that Kentucky had that many miles of waterway or that there were that many places nearby to check out. I fish out of a small boat so I stick to small waters mostly.

I like the Elkhorn, is there any places to camp nearby? The family and I are heading out to Stoner this weekend for some fishin and camping, I'll give a report when we get back. Thanks again for the warm welcome.

I know there is an Elkhorn campground in Frankfort, which is really close to the Jim Beam and Switzer covered bridge areas that I mentioned before. The campground may have access to the creek, but I'm not for sure. If you go to Elkhorn, pick up some small Rebel Crawfish and small Zoom tubes (green pumpkin work really well) and you should be able to catch some nice smallmouth!
