    Ohio River

Any body been bass fishing on the OH river lately? Wasn't there a "big name" tourney last weekend? Am thinking about going out but the water still seems rather murky.

You can catch bass on that river any time. This year has been very tough though...the bass just haven't been able to leave the creeks due to it being so muddy and the current.

went two weeks ago and we did really well back in the creeks throwing small bluegill colored crankbaits around wood. They were still guarding fry then, but not sure if they still are. Any place we saw fry and there was sloping banks with wood cover we caught fish including a 4 pounder.

I've been slamming the stripers at the falls. But they opened the darn gates on me. Been catching nice 3-10 lbers left and right on cutbait and swimmers. Along with some huge 20+ lb Catfish!

    Re: Ohio River

I have fished the river several times in the past 2 weeks. I have caught bass up the creeks and on the main river. Most of my fish have come off rock banks on carolina rigged lizzards. Today dad and I went out and fished a creek with a lot of stumps and laydowns. Every fish boated was on a purple worm, his rigged weightless with a worm hook and mine was a trick worm on a shakey head. I lost about a 3 to 3 1/2 lber. at the boat cause I tried to hoist it in. We had a lot of short strikes, we couldn't really put together a solid pattern though, the fished seemed to be a litle scattered. If any one else has had any luck let us know, I am really trying to become a better river fisherman, so i am looking for any tips i can get.
