    Orten

Wow, maybe this young fella made a bad choice. According to the reports yesterday he stunk the whole place up at their first two trial games. Didn't even score in one game despite starting, got frustrated and almost started a fight, hmmm. Not good, he may be in Italy soon if this keeps up.

Ya know I kinda thought he would make it with that big body and seemed to be fairly level headed. But I remember, You, Woody and some others saying he was making a big mistake. Right now unless he turns it around pretty quick I'd say you guys were right. The NBA has clauses in those contracts now where they can cut you loose on a Whim if they so desire. Yea you'll get a nice parting gift, but be gone none the less. Once banished it's hard to return.

It is first round gauranteed three year contracts, unless that has changed in the last couple of years. Second round you might not even make the team, there is no promises. If you recall, Reece Gaines was picked by the Magic in the first round a few years ago. In the second round, the Magic picked Keith Bogans. Reece got a three year contract making millions while Bogans made the team, his first year he was playing for about $200K a year. Bogans ended up being a better NBA player and stayed in the league for a long time. Reece was traded twice and after his three year contract was up he was playing overseas.

I heard on the radio he scored 2 points! I'm just being mean I guess.....If the guy really wants to learn and really wants to be a good player then I think he is at a good place. Van Gundy is a good coach and D Howard is a good guy to get some pointers from. If he plays against Howard in the practice sessions and gets his foot work down he could be a great additon to the team but he has to get his head on straight.

The radio spot said he was so frustrated he instigated a potential fight...I guess they broke it up.

First round is the only guaranteed 3 year contract in the NBA. If your a second round pick, your better off not getting drafted at all because you have many more options than just the team that drafted you. Orton was way too young, way too in-experienced and you have to remember that Orton did not even play his senior year in high school due to an injury and then a backup last year at UK. He needs to hit the gym so he is strong enough to carry Dwight Howard's luggage on road trips and work around his house in Orlando during the home games because that is all he will be doing for a couple of years. Sounds like Orton and Bledsoe were too stupid to take college courses anyways so maybe it is better they are away from the Big Blue but I personally don't think either of these guys will be decent pros at least for a couple of years and maybe not ever.
